Marion, SC, (WPDE) - Snow touched many areas of the Carolinas Saturday night from the coast to the border belt. In downtown Marion, the snow started to fall heavily around 9 pm, making road conditions slippery and dangerous in some areas.

As accumulation began, the streets of Marion stayed pretty quiet. But two women ventured out in the snow to watch it fall because they were excited. Stephanie Akins said she hadn't seen snow in years.

"Pretty exciting actually. I looked out the snow and I was like oh, it's snowing. And I got my little niece...so I'm pretty excited," said Akins.

Akins niece, McKenzie Waters, said she was hoping that snow would have come down on a weekday so she could have had a snow day.
