The South Carolina firefighter's convention got underway Tuesday in Myrtle Beach.

About 140 vendors from around the southeast set shop in the Myrtle Beach Convention Center to show the newest in fire service equipment.

Firefighters from across the state attended lectures on things like smoke safety.

Laurens County Fire Services Director Gregg Lindley tells NewsChannel 15, "Its just the most up to date courses, classes, education and it helps people like myself that are over fire services to see where the trends go."

The convention wraps up this weekend with a combat challenge Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Broadway at the Beach and fallen firefighter memorial services Saturday at 9:00 a.m. the convention center.
