Press Release - Florence School District One announced its 2010 summer school schedule.

ALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS -- operate on the same schedule for summer school, beginning on June 1st and ending on June 30th. Summer school hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 12 noon. Breakfast and lunch will be served each day at all locations.

Locations which are operating summer school, grade levels, summer school principals, transportation information, and school phone numbers are as follows:

Lester Elementary is operating summer school for rising 3rd through 6th graders from all elementary schools. Bus transportation will be provided for students zoned for Lester. Melanie Garand is the summer school principal, 664-8459.

McLaurin Elementary will operate summer school for rising 2nd through 5th graders from McLaurin only. Bus transportation will be provided for students zoned for McLaurin, and Deidre Harley is the summer school principal, 664-8457.

Savannah Grove Elementary will operate summer school for rising 4th through 7th graders from all elementary schools. Bus transportation will be provided for students zoned for Savannah Grove, and the operating principal is Dedra Wilson-Patrick, 664-8463.

North Vista Elementary's summer school is for rising 3rd through 6th graders from North Vista only. Bus transportation will not be provided, and Kathleen Jones will serve as the summer school principal, 664-8159.

Moore Intermediate will operate summer school for rising 5th graders from Carver Elementary and Delmae Elementary as well as rising 6th graders from Moore.

Bus transportation will not be provided. Ann Valrie is the summer school principal, 664-8171.

Timrod Elementary's summer program is open to rising 2nd through 6th graders from Timrod. A few vacancies are available for students from other elementary schools.

Bus transportation will be provided for students zoned for Timrod. Elizabeth Jackson is the summer school principal, 664-8454. For more information, contact the elementary school summer school principal or call the Florence One Elementary Education department at 678-4192.

ALL MIDDLE AND HIGH HIGH SCHOOLS -- will offer summer school courses.

Summer school for middle school students will be held Monday through Thursday, June 2nd through June 29th from 8:00 a.m. until 12:10 p.m. at Sneed, Southside, and Williams.

Students may register on the first day, and course offerings will include English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.

Summer school for high school credit recovery will be held June 7th through July 28th from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. or from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the three high schools:

South Florence, West Florence, and Wilson, with summer school graduation on July 29th. Florence One students may register on June 7th. Summer school instruction will consist of course offerings through Novanet, a computer based instructional system.
