(AP) -- CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A movie about the Hunley that was filmed and shown for the first time in Charleston in 1999 will be playing in the city once again.

The Friends of the Hunley, the group that is working to preserve the historic Confederate submarine, shows the film at Charleston's Old Exchange building on Thursday.

The Hunley was the first sub in history to sink an enemy warship.

The film stars Armand Assante and Donald Sutherland and was shown nationwide. A crowd of about 600 turned out in 1999 when several of the stars attended the premiere.

After the film is shown Thursday, state Sen. Glenn McConnell, the chairman of the South Carolina Hunley Commission, speaks on discoveries about the sub made during the past 12 years.
