Press Release - Beginning on Tuesday, July 27, passengers flying out of Myrtle Beach International Airport will notice some short term changes in boarding aircraft.

The Ramp Rehabilitation project will be closing gates in phases from now through December. The $2.6 million project is being funded primarily through FAA entitlement grants and will remove asphalt on the commercial apron and replace it with more-durable concrete.

Phase one gate closings will begin on Tuesday and should be completed within 75 days; affected will be Gates 1-3.

Passengers boarding flights via those gates will proceed to their scheduled gates and onto the aircraft via a walkway on the ramp. Phase Two Gate closures will affect Gates 4-6 and are set to begin mid-October.

"Every effort is being made to minimize the inconvenience of our passengers," states airport spokesperson, Lauren Morris. "We are working closely with our airlines to ensure smooth operations during this time. The completion of this project will allow airside operations to be more efficient for the long term. As we move forward with our terminal expansion project, our entire facility needs to be prepared to handle the demands of our growing business. These projects are part of the airport's long-term planning."

Passengers with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact their airline directly.
