Men in Horry County had a chance for free prostate cancer screenings Monday.
ZERO: The Project to End Prostate Cancer and Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday hosted the free drive.
295 men were tested. That's a 32 percent increase from the number of men who were tested two years ago.
Golf holiday teamed up with ZERO a few years ago, and they held a golf tournament this year to raise money for the cause.
Monday, they presented a check for more than $21,000 to the organization. Golf Holiday's president says they chose this charity because of the group's target audience. "We get over 1 million golfers to come down to Myrtle Beach, mostly male, you know, age 40-55 which is the target, that demographic who are affected by this disease, so we felt like it was a great campaign for us to bring awareness to," said Bill Golden, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday.
The donation is enough to cover at least 900 free screenings.
