For many in the Carolinas, fireworks are part of the celebration of Independence Day, but before you set any off you should know the rules.
In South Carolina all fireworks that meet the requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Commission are allowed, except for small rockets less than a half inch in diameter and three inches long.
At Mr. Fireworks on King's Highway in Horry County, Todd Stone tells his customers about the rules.
Though fireworks are allowed in the state, some counties and cities don't allow them.
He tells people to check first, Stone says, "we work hand in hand with the Horry County Sheriff's Department and the Myrtle Beach Police Department. The biggest thing, if I can't accommodate your question or you have any questions, please call your local city or county, they'll let you know."
Fireworks are allowed in unincorporated Horry County, however they are not allowed in many cities including Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach.
