Horry County council is considering passing the final reading of an ordinance that would set tougher regulations on outdoor and open burning in certain parts of the county.

Council began considering the ordinance after the wildfires in April that burned around 20,000 acres of land in Horry County and destroyed 75 homes.

The fire was the worst in South Carolina state history.

County council will take the measure up at their meeting Tuesday night.
