Two FCC commissioners were in Charleston this week holding public meetings on broadband internet.

They also talked with several Grand Strand leaders about Myrtle Beach television stations being taken off the Time Warner Cable system in Georgetown County.

Although NewsChannel 15 has not been taken off, other stations in the market have.

NewsChannel 15's President and CEO Billy Huggins, the leaders of the Myrtle Beach Area and Georgetown Chambers of Commerce and State Representative Vida Miller met with FCC commissioners Mignon Clyburn and Michael Copps.

"The bottom line for us is that we were able to discuss a possible solution for having all the networks from Charleston through Georgetown and Myrtle Beach to come together for a solution," said Rep. Vida Miller, (D) State House District 108.

A resident, Peter Eisenberg also discussed the safety issues of losing Myrtle Beach stations, which cover weather, evacuations, traffic and daily news.
