Solicitor Greg Hembree says Horry County Chief Summary Court Judge Gerald Whitley ruled 24 video gaming machines seized from the Wine and Time in Little River on June 28 are illegal.

The machines were called "Figure Eight Sweepstakes Games."

Horry County police turned the investigation over to the video gaming unit of the South Carolina Attorney General's Office.

Video poker parlors have been opening across the state over the past year. Owners claim the machines are legal because they're run through the internet.

Hembree says the ruling means more Horry County businesses will be prosecuted.

The machines will be destroyed.
